If you're tired of bringing a fresh iced coffee to work only to find it watered down too soon because of the summer heat, then an insulated tumbler might be exactly what you need. Because of their construction, which features double walls and a vacuum seal, these tumblers are perfect for when you’re on the go and want to keep your beverage hot or cold for hours.
Most insulated tumblers also prevent condensation ("sweating") and have locking lids that are either leakproof or splashproof. Many of them also fit into cup holders, making it easier to bring your drink on the road. They are often versatile, too—not only will you be able to savor your hot tea or cold brew at its optimal temperature, but also wine and beer.
From plastic to stainless steel to ceramic, we wanted to find the best insulated tumblers for keeping your favorite beverage at the ideal temperature. So, we put several top-rated insulated tumblers through a comprehensive testing process, paying special attention to insulation, comfort in hand, sealing, and overall value.

Hydro Flask’s tumbler cup does a great job on all fronts with its TempShield double-wall vacuum insulation. It can keep hot beverages warm for up to six hours with the lid and keeps beverages cold for up to 24 hours. The design also prevents the tumbler from sweating, so there's no worrying about getting rings on your furniture.
This tumbler is made of stainless steel and is BPA-free. It includes a splash-proof (though not leakproof) lid that requires a simple press to secure shut. The narrow design is convenient for traveling (7.8 inches high with a 2.9-inch diameter) because it easily fits in most cup holders. It’s also easy to hold with its slip-free powder coating on its exterior. When you’re done with your tumbler for the day, just stick it in the dishwasher for easy clean-up.

If you’re more interested in something that’s suited for alcohol, look no further than the Corkcicle's stemless wine cup. This 12-ounce stainless steel cup is the perfect size for wine, cocktails, sangria, and more. It comes in three stylish colors that reviewers love: turquoise, rose quartz, and white. Plus, it is triple-insulated, ideal for both hot and cold drinks. It can keep drinks cold for up to nine hours or hot for up to three hours. It’s conveniently designed to look like a stemless wine glass but comes with ergonomic flat sides and a non-slip silicone bottom to prevent sliding and spilling.
We love the flat siding, as it makes it way easier to grip, especially when by the pool or grill. This cup also comes with a spill-resistant lid that features a slide closure and a removable silicone gasket to make cleaning easier. Per the manufacturer’s recommendations, this wine cup must be hand-washed.

You may not be surprised that this insulated tumbler made our list—but there are many reasons why other than it's super popular. With an enormous capacity of 40 ounces, the Stanley Quencher FlowState takes care of hydration goals with just one refill. Although standing up and walking to the water cooler is a great way to get some movement in the body, let’s be real, we don’t always do it as often as we should. This takes care of always having water available near you, especially while running multiple errands or during road trips. The contents stay hot or cold for hours on end, and it holds ice cubes for at least a day due to the vacuum-insulated design.
The most noticeable design features of the massive tumbler are its handle and a tapered base that's shaped to fit into any cup holder. This means we can carry it around comfortably from our desks to the gym to our cars, where it sits comfortably during the drive. The sturdy handle especially makes it so easy to lift and carry. The lid is fitted with a reusable straw and is adjustable so left-handed people can also use it comfortably. Hate handwashing and air-drying water bottles? Us too! These are dishwasher-safe, so we can finally keep our water bottles squeaky clean and not skirt around the task.
But as versatile as it is, the Stanley Quencher FlowState does have a few inconveniences. For one, the advantageous size can be cumbersome if you want to take the tumbler on long walks. And it cannot be just dropped into your bag because it is not spill-proof. The lid has an opening for drinking without a straw, but we found that it was awkward to drink from, and contents sometimes leaked while drinking.
Also, some of the matte color chips at the base and around the areas that come in contact with cup holders. To get a replacement, the customer service process to file a claim is really slow and also very involved. There is, however, a less than $10 accessory to help avoid this—a silicone boot bumper that comes in many different colors. Speaking of accessories, there's also a leak-stopping straw cap you can take off and wash, also for cheap.

If you’re looking for something that keeps your drinks well-insulated, this model boasts double-wall insulation that keeps your drink’s temperature, no matter the outside weather. Although it is on the pricier side, this 24-ounce tumbler stands 6.4 inches high and has a 4.6-inch diameter with a 5-inch handle for easy carrying.
This model comes with a Yeti MagSlider lid, which uses the power of magnets to lock your beverage inside. The sweat-proof vessel is made of 18/8 stainless steel that's durable enough to withstand drops, accidents, and outdoor adventuring. However, the lid is not leakproof, so beware if you do drop it. It also features Duracoat, which is a durable coat of color that will prevent fading, peeling, or cracking over time. This tumbler is especially easy to clean. Just stick it in the dishwasher for a quick and painless clean-up.

If you’re somewhat of a coffee snob, this 16-ounce mug elevates your coffee-drinking experience exponentially. In place of a small, sippy opening, this mug has a wide-mouth opening with a screw-on cap that allows the user to fully experience coffee and all its aromas. Plus, the opening is designed to fit the most popular manual brewing devices and all standard drippers.
The interior ceramic coating prevents the metal taste you get with stainless steel, and the leakproof seal locks liquids inside. It boasts a triple-walled vacuum seal, retaining heat for 12 hours and keeping drinks cold for 24 hours. We also love the textured surface and finish of this mug, as well as the leakproof lid.
The manufacturer site recommends washing this mug by hand with a soft brush or sponge to avoid damaging the ceramic coating. It can also be used in the dishwasher but must be placed on the top rack. This mug is available in six matte colors, including white, gray, black, golden hour, dusk blue, and warm pink.

If style is as important as keeping your drink hot or cold for hours, then the cute Ello Campy travel mug could be just the tumbler for you. Its speckled pattern and cylindrical shape harken back to enamel camp mugs, and it comes in several colors. This mug can hold up to 16 ounces and will keep your drink hot for five hours and cold for ten or more, thanks to its vacuum insulation.
While the body of the mug is a bit hard to hold because of its sleekness, the handle is lined with cork, which our tester likes because it provides cushioning for your hand. Plus, the lid is leak-proof and has an easy-to-use slider. There are a few design details that could be improved, however: For example, the mug may not fit in most car cup holders due to its handle.
During testing, this tumbler didn't leak at all. It also performed very well when it came to cold drinks, with under-40-degree temps lasting for over 10 hours. Unfortunately, this one isn't dishwasher-safe, so it must be washed by hand.

These 16-ounce clear tumblers will keep cold drinks cold while looking good at the same time. The shape is classic, with just enough embellishment to look a little bit special, and this is a four-pack, so you’ve got enough glasses for the family. They are made in the USA and can be used for hot drinks as well as cold. During testing, we loved these plastic drinking glasses for drinking outdoors (especially for families with children) because they are so lightweight and resistant to drops and spills. With cold drinks filled with ice, the tumblers kept our hands at room temperature thanks to the double-walled insulation.
These mugs are safe for the microwave if you need to heat or reheat a beverage, as well as the freezer, so you can, for example, freeze portions of fruit in each glass. Unlike some insulated glasses, they can be washed in the dishwasher, so cleaning is easy when the party is over. They don't come with lids, so you will have to purchase those separately.

Take hot or iced coffee on the go with this tumbler, which boasts a wide, winged straw that's also great for sipping and stirring your favorite chunky fruit smoothie. This 24-ounce tumbler doesn't have a handle, but it does have vacuum-sealed double-wall insulation and a tight-fitting pry-off lid to keep your drink cold for up to 12 hours. The cup is made of stainless steel, so it resists stains and odors—and you won't taste hints of yesterday's strawberry-banana smoothie in today's cold brew.
We can attest to its effectiveness. Thanks to the superior insulation, our smoothies weren't a melted mess when we got to the bottom. Note, however, that if you choose not to use the straw, the hole on the lid doesn't have a cover.

Not ideal for hot drinks
This tumbler has a number of features that make it especially convenient. First and foremost, it’s made of durable 18/8 stainless steel and includes a clear plastic lid with a sliding spout cover. It is also insulated with a double-wall vacuum, which locks in your beverage’s temperature and helps prevent sweating. This tumbler is good for both hot and cold drinks, though it definitely performed better with the former in our tests, keeping cold beverages cool for up to 15 hours.
Another standout feature is the hidden bottle opener, which is integrated into the bottom of the cup—perfect for cracking open and enjoying a cold one. The bottom pad helps to prevent slippage, and the textured exterior makes it easy to hold onto under all conditions. This tumbler is available in a number of colors, including black, green, red, sandstone, seafoam, slate, stainless steel, and violet.

The Hydro Flask 20-Ounce Insulated Tumbler Cup is our top pick because it keeps beverages either hot or cold for several hours, doesn't sweat, is slip-free, and fits in most cup holders. We also love the durable Yeti Rambler Mug, which is double-insulated as well and super easy to keep clean.
We spent weeks evaluating each tumbler on this list to see how they performed with everyday use out in the real world with experienced at-home testers. During testing, we paid special attention to several important features, including:
Before purchasing an insulated tumbler, narrow down a preferred size and consider what the tumbler will most frequently be used for. You'll want to keep in mind how much liquid the tumbler holds, of course, but also consider features like bulky handles and whether or not your tumbler will fit in your backpack sleeve or car's cup holder.
Durability is one of the most important characteristics regarding long-term use. A lifetime warranty usually indicates the manufacturing is of high enough quality that a brand is willing to insure their products for an indefinite amount of time.
Insulated tumblers come in a wide variety of materials, including stainless steel, plastic, and even ceramic. The right material will depend on your specific needs—for example, if you'll be using it primarily for cold versus hot beverages, or if it needs to be resistant to drops and dents for families with small children. Generally, stainless steel is ideal for most situations since it is easy to clean, resistant to stains, and more insulating.
"Vacuum-insulated tumblers or bottles feature a double wall, or two-layer construction—oftentimes made of stainless steel," says Graham Nearn, Stanley’s Vice President of Product Creation and Design. "All air is removed from between the two layers of the bottle to create a vacuum." This feature is why this kind of tumbler is able to keep beverages at the preferred temperature for an extended period of time.
Some tumblers are specifically made to keep food and drinks hot or cold. A key component to check for is if the product’s interior is stainless steel. If not, it is unlikely to be able to maintain items like oatmeal or soup at a food-safe temperature.
A tumbler’s insulation should not deteriorate with prolonged use. "However if any insulated tumbler is damaged, thermals may be impacted," states Nearn.
